Kerry Gelb, OD

Based in New Jersey, Dr. Kerry Gelb produced “Open Your Eyes,” a feature-length documentary on the importance of eye care in preventive medicine before launching a weekly podcast discussing all aspects of health with expert guests.

Kevin Chan, OD, MS, FAAO 

Virginia optometrist Dr. Kevin Chan is the Senior Clinical Director of Treehouse Eyes, a specialty eye care company dedicated exclusively to providing myopia management for children. Featured in the renowned TEDx talk, “Myopia – Global Epidemic,” he is a leading force in the myopia awareness initiative.

Maria Liu, OD, PhD, MPH, MBA, FAAO

Dr. Maria Liu is an associate professor of clinical optometry at UC Berkeley School of Optometry and the founder and chief of the UC Berkeley Myopia Control Clinic. She also served as the attending doctor for multiple VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) trips to China.

Maria Sampalis, OD

Dr. Maria Sampalis practices optometry in Cranston, Rhode Island, where she uses cutting-edge technology to diagnose and treat refractive errors and ocular disease.

Mark Bullimore, MCOptom, PhD, FAAO

Based in Boulder, Colorado, Professor Mark Bullimore is an internationally renowned scientist, speaker and educator with expertise in myopia, contact lenses, low vision, presbyopia and refractive surgery. 

Matthew Belden, DVM

Dr. Matthew Belden has been a practicing veterinarian for nearly 40 years. Based in rural Ballinger, Texas, Dr. Belden primarily treats pets now after decades of experience also working with large animals on a regular basis.

Moshe Mendelson, OD, FIAO

Dr. Moshe Mendelson is a leading optometrist in the field of myopia management, overseeing one of the busiest orthokeratology practices in the nation and devoting his practice in Sunnyvale, California, to the field. He is also an adjunct professor for the New England College of Optometry in Boston.

Pamela Miller, OD, FAAO, JD, FNAP

Dr. Pam Miller has a private optometric practice in Highland, California, that encompasses contact lenses, low vision and some vision therapy. She holds a therapeutic and glaucoma license, and her law degree gives her additional expertise into the legal aspects of practice.

Shane Kannarr, OD

A practicing optometrist in Pittsburg, Kansas, Dr. Shane Kannarr lectures on contact lenses, ocular disease and practice management. He has also been the principal investigator of over 150 studies for contact lenses, solutions, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Sonia Kelley, OD, MS

Dr. Sonia Kelley graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. She also earned a Master of Science in vision science. Following graduation, Dr. Kelley completed a residency in vision rehabilitation.

Thomas Aller, OD, FBCLA

Dr. Thomas Aller has been researching clinical methods for the control of myopia progression for the last 30 years, conducting clinical trials and even launching a myopia progression tracking app. When he’s not contributing to the field of vision science, Dr. Aller sees patients regularly at his practice in San Bruno, California.

Thomas J. Stokkermans, OD, PhD, FAAO

Dr. Thomas Stokkermans is the director of Optometric Services for University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and co-director of the Dry Eye Center of Excellence. He’s also an assistant professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Valerie M. Kattouf, OD, FAAO

Dr. Valerie Kattouf is an Associate Professor at the Illinois College of Optometry, where she teaches in the classroom and clinic and conducts clinical research. She is also Chief of the Dr. Robert and Lena Lewenson Center for Pediatric and Binocular Vision at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago.

Richard Edwards

Richard Edwards qualified as an optometrist in 1987 and was director of professional services at Boots Opticians before launching OPTOMiSE Consulting in 2014. Edwards is professional advisor to the Optical Consumer Complaints Service, chairs the Optical Confederation Education Committee.

Andy Hepworth, BSc FBDO

Dr. Andy Hepworth BSc (hons) FBDO graduated from APU in 1996 with an honors degree in Optical Management and following two years in practice management he joined Essilor Ltd. Since 2003 he has been working as Essilor’s Professional Relations manager.

Cheryl Swindells, FBDO SMC(Tech) CertEd

Cheryl Swindells qualified from ABDO College and registered as a dispensing optician in 2006. She currently lectures in Ophthalmic Lenses & Dispensing at the University of Bradford, School of Optometry, is a UK & Overseas Practical & Theory Examiner for ABDO and provides CET lectures for optometrists and dispensing opticians. 

Paul Ursell, MBBS MD FRCOphth

Dr. Paul Ursell is one of the UK’s leading cataract surgeons having performed over 7,000 cataract operations in a career spanning 25 years. Ursell is the Royal College of Ophthalmologists representative to the EU, and Vision 2020 lead for dementia and sight loss. Ursell studied medicine at St Mary’s Hospital in London and trained in cataract surgery at St Thomas’s Hospital, London, Oxford University as a clinical lecturer.

Latin America

Javier Prada, OD

Javier Prada is an optometrist who graduated from the University of Costa Rica in Optometry in 1982. He is currently vice president of the Latin American Association of ortho-K and myopia control.

María Susana Merchán Price, OD

Dr. Price is a pediatric optometrist who graduated from the University La Salle Columbia in Optometry and also received her masters degree in Pedagogy from the University of Savannah. She works in a private practice.

Dr. Armando Cardozo Plazas

Dr. Plazas is an ophthalmologist retinologist specialized in occupational health management. He graduated from the National University of Columbia and currently works in a private practice in Bogotá, Columbia.

Leonardo Orjuela Mariño, OD

Dr. Mariño is an optometrist who specializes in ocular prosthesis adaptation and special contact lenses. He held a professor ophthalmology residency at University La Salle Columbia. He currently works in a private practice at Clofán Clinic in Medellín, Columbia.

Dr. Monica Chaudhry, BSc, MSc Optometry, PhD Scholar

Dr. Monica Chaudhry currently serves as the director of the School of Health Science at Ansal University in Gurugram. She has more than seven years of experience as a professor and head of the Optometry and Vision Science Department at Amity University Gurgaon. 

Dr. Umang Mathur, MD

Dr. Umang Mathur is the executive director at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH) in New Delhi. Following his residency in ophthalmology, he completed his fellowship in cornea and anterior segment at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad. 

Dr. Y.L Rajashekar, MD, DNB, MBA

Dr. Y.L. Rajashekar is a renowned ophthalmic surgeon with a specialization in vitreo-retinal and laser procedures in Karnāṭaka. He completed his early medical education at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute and is a top-ranking post-graduate of All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
